Feature Spotlight: Gifting on Skip
Why We Built It
With Skio’s new “gift to a friend” feature, subscribers can gift their next order to a friend instead of skipping their order.
The best part? Gifting serves as a free, built-in referral program.
Customers trust their friends more than anybody else when it comes to new products they’re considering testing out.
How It Works
When customers go in to skip their next order, we give them the option to gift it to a friend.
Now, when someone goes on vacation, instead of just skipping the order,
they can send it over to John or Jane and give them the chance to try
it.
From a workflow perspective, all the customer needs to do is punch in their friend’s address.
Skio executes a one-time address swap, and now the next order is going straight to your friend.
When the customer comes back to their subscription, the Skio portal will
auto swap back to their original address and the subscription continues like
normal.
But, now that friend had the chance to try a new product.
Hopefully, they’re going to love it. And,
the chances that the friend now becomes a subscriber have in turn
dramatically increased.
What Outcomes It Drives
Skio’s gifting on skip feature drives five four key outcomes:
Reduced skip rate
New user acquisition
Reduced amount of “unused” inventory
Increased confidence in revenue projections
In addition, gifting builds trust and organic word-of-mouth referrals.
Every company in the world wants trust. Trust is one of the most valuable resources for a brand.
With gifting on skip you allow subscribers, your most loyal and most
passionate customer base, to be natural evangelists for the brand. While
everyone else is shelling out dollars for influencer marketing, gifting on
skip taps into a network of trusted advisors and brand loyalists.
Traditionally, if you want to gift something to your friend, you would have
to go through a completely different one-time purchase workflow. This might
force you to pause your subscription and then restart it.
